Review: Deadtown

Deadtown (Deadtown, #1)Deadtown by Nancy Holzner

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A new urban fantasy with a new take on the genre, with the demon slaying Vicky.

She lives in deadtown, a part of Boston corded off from the rest of the town after an epidemic has turned thousands of residents into zombies, which has also allowed other paranormal humans to 'come out of the closet'. She lives together with a werewolf lawyer, that is the poster-boy for paranormal rights, but there isn't enough of a romantic interest between the two to turn this into another nauseating PNR, even if they do their best.

The comic relief is provided by Vicky's apprentice, a young zombie girl, trying to learn the trade to make a living after having been abandoned by her family when she caught the disease, but what teenager is cut out for killing demons?
